Are you ready to explore the otherworldly Catamarca landscape? Join us on an unforgettable journey to the spectacular Pumice Field.
Departing from Antofagasta de la Sierra, our tour takes us to Carachi Pampa Lagoon, a habitat for Andean flamingos. Here, we will also admire the volcano and salt flat that share the same name. We then continue to the impressive Pumice Field, featuring white, porous rock formations, where we will enjoy a half-hour hike.

Tour Description
Your tour begins with pickup in the picturesque town of Antofagasta de la Sierra.
From there, we set off toward Carachi Pampa, an immense salt desert extending to the horizon. This salt flat is renowned for its surreal scenery and profound sense of tranquility. Along the way, we will pass the volcano’s basaltic flows, Cerro de Colores (Hill of Colors), and the saltpeter plain.
Our next destination is Carachi Pampa Lagoon, a dreamlike setting where the water changes color according to the sunlight. The lagoon is also an ideal habitat for the Andean flamingo, which can be observed in this unique environment.
We then continue to Campo de Piedra Pómez (Pumice Field), a spectacular expanse of white, porous rock formations that looks like a landscape from another planet. We will walk through the area, giving you the opportunity to explore this extraordinary site and capture postcard-perfect photographs.
Finally, we will travel 63 km along a sandy and gravel road on our return to Antofagasta de la Sierra. During the journey, you will also have the chance to take truly unique photographs from your vehicle.
At the end of the tour, we will drop you off at your accommodation in Antofagasta de la Sierra.
