Pumice Stone Field

The journey begins in Tinogasta, with passenger pickup from centrally located hotels at 5:00 a.m..

From there, we travel along Route 60 toward La Rioja, continuing via Routes 40 and 43 until reaching Villa Vil.

From Villa Vil, the route continues for more than 100 km of gravel roads before arriving at Campo de Piedra Pómez, passing through the town of El Peñón. Along the way, you will admire breathtaking landscapes, including the Carachi Pampa Volcano, Laguna Blanca Hill, and the historic town of Londres, the second-oldest urban settlement in Argentina.

We will spend approximately 1.5 hours at Campo de Piedra Pómez, where you can walk through and explore this protected natural area. Covering more than 75,000 hectares at over 3,000 meters above sea level, this extraordinary destination offers a landscape that looks like it belongs on another planet. The guide will also provide recommendations for taking the best photos of this remarkable site.

After visiting Campo de Piedra Pómez, we will begin the return journey to Tinogasta.

If the visit to Carachi Pampa is included, the excursion will stop at the volcano, allowing visitors to travel around it and observe the nearby lagoon and the salt flat of the same name. These lagoons are home to flamingos, their only permanent inhabitants, which feed on algae and snails in highly alkaline waters.

The tour concludes with drop-off at the central hotels in Tinogasta at approximately 10:00 p.m..
