Tour Description

We will begin our Tatón Dunes tour from Tinogasta at around 8 am, when we pick you up at your accommodation. Traveling in the 4x4 truck that we will use throughout the experience, we will set off toward the Tatón Dunes.
From Tinogasta to the Tatón Dunes, we will follow National Route 60 for approximately two hours. Along the way, we will see attractions such as India del Portezuelo, the town of El Puesto, the Watungasta Ruins, and impressive desert landscapes of extraordinary proportions before reaching Fiambalá.
The Watungasta Ruins are a fascinating testimony to the pre-Columbian cultures that inhabited the region. Throughout the tour, the guide will provide additional information about the history and culture of Catamarca.
Once we reach the Tatón Dunes, we will have time to enjoy the landscape, take plenty of photographs from different viewpoints and, for the more adventurous, practice sandboarding on the dunes.
We will then continue toward the Indio Canyon, where we will take a medium-difficulty trek while enjoying the beauty of the Andean landscape. Indio Canyon is an ancient riverbed that is now dry, revealing fascinating geological formations dating back to the Quaternary period. Sedimentary rocks sculpted by wind and rain create a landscape of remarkable beauty.
During the trek, you can observe native flora and fauna, including different species of cacti, jarillas, tolas, Andean birds, lizards, foxes and even guanacos.
At around 3 pm, we will begin our return journey to Tinogasta, arriving at approximately 5 pm.
